Bluphoria: Getting to Know the Band

As Bluphoria wraps up EDGEOUT’s thorough development program, it’s time for some proper introductions to the band! The band is currently anticipating to hit the studio by mid-fall of 2021, but in the meantime let’s introduce the artist’s behind the music–

Reign LaFreniere / Frontman & Lead Guitar: “Hey Everyone, I’m Reign! I’m 21, from the California Bay Area and am Bluphoria’s frontman and lead guitarist. I started playing music in high school and would often take the train to open mics, just to meet other musicians and practice playing in front of people! An artist that inspires me is Bob Marley, for the ability he had to make music that reminds people about the beauty in life- despite going through hard times and a civil war!”

Dani Robinette / Drums: “Hi! Im Dani Jenae, 20 years old and I play the drums! I first got into music from my dad playing a lot of 80s punk while I was growing up, as well as a high school teacher of mine. I took his class for over four years and it helped me grow in personal areas of performance, songwriting, collaboration and skill. Some artists that will always inspire me are Donny Hathaway, Blur, X-Ray Spex and Courtney Barnett!”

Rex Wolf / Bass Guitar: “My name is Rex Wolf, I’m 20 years old and am from Lake Oswego, Oregon. I play bass in Bluphoria! I first really got into playing music at age 10, when I discovered classic rock and 90’s grunge. My mom had a large knowledge of rock music and put me on to it very early!  played drums for many years, until I heard Primus for the first time- and immediately knew I had to pick up the bass! I pull inspiration from a wide variety of bands/artists, but I would say the most influential for me as a bass player are: Soundgarden, RHCP, Rage Against the Machine, Alice in Chains, Metallica, Sly and the Family Stone and Jaco Pastorius/Weather Report!

Dakota North / Rhythm Guitar:  “My name is Dakota North, I’m 18 years old and from Eugene, Oregon! I play rhythm guitar in Bluphoria, and first started playing music when I was in the fourth grade. I started with piano, but switched to guitar around 7th grade- and honestly didn’t really devote myself until around age 14, in the 9th grade. I discovered how much I loved music from visiting gospel churches and listening to classic rock with my Dad, then listening to motown with my Mom! I’d have to attribute most of my inspiration to Pink Floyd, The Who, The Velvet Undergound, Faces, and The Internet.”
